Unbelievable
On the first play of the game today the Steelers gave up a Chiefs kickoff TD return.
this comes after the same thing happened last week to lose the game. i guess putting Arnold Harrison on waivers wasn't the answer we were looking for.
if the Steelers don't end this year in a nice way, i'm blaming the special teams unit.

Saturday
the Steelers defense has not given up a touchdown in the last two games
...but we're only 1-1 in that time frame. how did that happen?
the Steelers specialists are a different story. further exacerbating the weakness on special teams are the missed field goals against the Bengals and Bears that would have won or tied both games, and Stefan Logan's kickoff fumble at the end of one of those games.
i have no idea if waiving Arnold Harrison is the solution but at least Coach Tomlin is not ignoring the problem. it's disappointing to see success in all other units ruined by poor special teams.
- a kickoff return against the Bengals
- a QB fumble returned for TD against the Broncos
- a pick-six against the Lions
- TD kickoff return against the Browns

those west coast teams are pretty good
i watched the Los Angeles Kings beat up on the Penguins the other day, and now i'm watching the San Jose Sharks lead the Penguins 4-0.
sounds strange but the Kings are actually good this year. very good.
the Penguins look worn out, and i can't blame them. their last few games have been in Columbus, Minnesota, Anaheim, LA, and now San Jose. that's a long road trip.
injuries have been piling up and this is finally taking a toll. Malkin and Gonchar are missing tonight. it's just a perfect storm of injuries and fatigue for the team right now.

glad the Jets lost
after the Jets' coach mocked an injured Dolphins player and Dustin Keller insulted the Dolphins during the week.... the Jets lost to the Dolphins for the second time (!) this year, today.
i've been curious to see if the Jets' performance could keep up with their smack talk and this week their bark was worse than their bite.
Joey Porter does not take it lightly when insulted, and he was a great leader for Miami after the incident. he was the same way in Pittsburgh.
very satisfying to see.

i don't care about baseball
...but i want the Phillies to win the World Series so all the sports trophies remain in Pennsylvania.

i don't believe it
the Packers are losing 24-6 against the Vikings, in Green Bay.
the 2009 Packers are a puzzling team.
it does appear that Brett Favre is inside Aaron Rodgers' head, as some (including me) may have suspected.
